Topic #1: Top 10 Payroll Trends for 2027, Linda Obertin, CPP

Topic #2: The One Thing You Wish You Knew Sooner, Oleg Lougheed

Speaker # 1: Linda Obertin, CPP

Summary:

Today’s most effective Payroll Leaders must move beyond simply surviving the day‑to‑day and instead focus on intentionally shaping the future. This is the moment where operational excellence meets strategic vision—where the demands of the present open the door to thinking bigger, planning smarter, and elevating the impact of payroll across the organization.

In this session, we’ll explore the Top 10 Focus Areas for Payroll Professionals including the trends, capabilities, and strategic priorities that define high‑performing payroll teams. Whether you’re looking to strengthen compliance, leverage new technologies, enhance the employee experience, or expand your strategic influence, these focus areas will help you build meaningful goals and actionable objectives for the future.

By the end of our time together, you’ll walk away with:

  • A clear understanding of the forces shaping payroll
  • Insight into where you can grow personally and professionally
  • A roadmap for strengthening your team’s capabilities
  • Practical ideas you can implement immediately
  • A foundation for your 2026/2027 goals, development plans, and strategic priorities

This is your moment to reset, refocus, and reimagine what’s possible for payroll — and for your own career — in the year ahead.

Summary:

In this 60-minute session, we'll explore the one thing that can transform the way we live and connect with others: understanding the impact we have on those around us. Whether in personal relationships, work environments, or casual encounters, the effect of our words, actions, and presence is far greater than we often realize. Through reflection, storytelling, and practical insights, this presentation will encourage you to recognize your unique influence and show you how embracing this awareness can lead to deeper connections, better decisions, and a more intentional life.

Session Learning Objectives:

  • Increase Self-Awareness of Personal Impact: Understand the profound influence your words, actions, and presence have on others in various contexts (personal, work, and casual settings), and learn how to recognize these impacts in real-time interactions.
  • Enhance Communication and Relationship-Building Skills: Develop strategies for using your influence intentionally to foster deeper connections, improve communication, and create more positive and productive interactions with others.
  • Apply Emotional Intelligence for Better Decision-Making: Learn how to leverage emotional intelligence to make more intentional decisions, both personally and professionally, that lead to stronger relationships and more effective leadership.
